How Invisalign works

Invisalign uses a series of clear dental trays to slowly push your teeth into alignment. Unlike metal braces, the trays can be removed for eating, brushing, flossing or for special occasions, which makes daily dental hygiene much simpler than it is with metal or plastic braces. Every two weeks you will switch out your old Invisalign tray with a new one until your teeth are in perfect alignment. The length of treatment may depend on how askew your teeth are and your age, as adults will require longer treatment because the facial bones are already fully developed. Obviously if only a few teeth are out of place, the treatment is shorter than if you have a large gap or several teeth out of line.

No Dietary Limits

With Invisalign, you are not limited in what you can eat or chew, unlike with traditional metal braces where certain foods, candy and even gum are off limits. Brushing and flossing with metal braces can be quite a hassle and can take up to a half an hour, but with Invisalign, you can simply remove the tray and brush as you normally do, then replace the tray. Metal braces sometimes also cause canker sores or other sores within the mouth, but with Invisalign, comfort is easy to come by.
