No Fear Dentistry
It is not uncommon to learn that numerous people have a paralyzing fear of going to the dentist, and unfortunately for many, this fear stops them from receiving the very important and necessary dental care they need to stay healthy. Additionally, there are times when dental treatment for more severe issues could cause discomfort, leaving the patient tense and apprehensive.
A Pleasant and Comfortable Dental Experience
Stannard & Studt & Wolf Dentistry is sensitive to these fears and anxieties. We endeavor to provide our clients with the most pleasant and comfortable dental experience. One way we try to relieve the uneasiness or worry you may experience is with nitrous oxide. We use nitrous oxide to help make other treatments more comfortable for you because it is important that you remain extremely relaxed and confident while we administer all of our dental procedures. This famous dental anesthetic is a safe and effective and is guaranteed to last over a long period of time. And we think it goes without saying, it makes your dental experience much more pleasant.
Before your treatment or cleaning begins, the dental hygienist will give you a mask that allows you to take deep breaths in through your nose and exhale slowly through your mouth. The nitrous oxide will take anywhere from 30 seconds to four minutes to take full effect, at which time you will notice a more sedated sensation. The nitrous oxide will cause your cheeks and gums to go numb and you shouldn’t be able to feel too much of anything. Once the nitrous has taken full effect, if necessary, any additional local anesthetic is administered and treatment or cleaning begins. After the procedure is finished, you will be given pure oxygen to breathe in for about five minutes to dissipate the effects of the nitrous and return you to a normal state.
