Have your teeth been damaged or discolored? Are you looking for a perfect smile with the help of qualified and accomplished dental experts? The dentists at Stannard & Studt & Wolf Dentistry are ready to help you achieve that flawless, beautiful smile you have always desired with the help of veneers!
Placing veneers on your teeth is a dental procedure in which a covering is placed over the outside, or visible area, of the tooth. Veneers are usually only placed on the parts of the teeth that are visible when talking or smiling.
Veneer Techniques
The dentists at Stannard & Studt & Wolf Dentistry utilize two different techniques for placing veneers: direct and indirect. The direct technique usually involves placing composite resin on the outside of the tooth using a bonding material. Consequently, this method is usually referred to as “bonding.” The indirect technique usually requires two separate appointments because the veneers will be fabricated at a dental laboratory. At the first appointment, the dentist will prepare your teeth, take impressions and give your teeth a temporary covering until your second appointment. Within two to three weeks, the veneers will be sent back from the laboratory and are ready to be placed on your teeth. The temporary coverings are removed and the veneers are bonded to your teeth. The veneers fabricated at the laboratory are typically constructed using porcelain or pressed ceramic, and are very aesthetic and natural-looking.
Why should you choose veneers over crowns?
The advantage of veneers versus crowns is that much less tooth material is removed and the procedure is generally less uncomfortable. Veneers are recommended for teeth that have large fillings or little tooth structure.
